Job Description

This hands‑on role places you at the heart of our educational projects, managing every phase from pre‑construction to close‑out.
Oversee and coordinate all pre‑construction, bid, construction, and close‑out phases.
Review pre‑construction documents, spot opportunities for improvement, and collaborate with design teams to ensure alignment.
Monitor project close‑out, secure certifications from the Division of State Architects (DSA), and finalize finances.
Prepare and deliver clear status reports to upper management and keep all stakeholders on track.
Act as the primary liaison with public agencies for off‑site compliance and coordinate with project staff to prevent gaps.
Own budgets and schedules, balancing client expectations with real‑time monitoring to keep projects on budget and on time.
Guide contractors, reviewing schedules, submittals, and responses to requests for clarifications (RFCs) and other documents.
Evaluate substitution requests, negotiate fair pricing for change orders, and assess schedule impacts.
Handle payments for contractors, architects, engineers, and administer professional service agreements and the client’s delivery of fixtures, furniture, and equipment (FF&E).
Demonstrate sharp instincts, quick thinking, and a passion for problem‑solving.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field.
Ten (10) years of full‑time professional experience in construction and/or a mix of project and construction management, focusing on commercial and/or public/educational facility projects.
At least three (3) years with full responsibility for coordinating complex projects valued over $10 million.
Hands‑on design‑build experience, bridging design and construction for seamless results.
Proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Experience with LEED‑certified projects and/or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS).
Familiarity with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes.
Knowledge of safety and OSHA regulations (OSHA 30 minimum).
A valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architectural Board, or as a Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, or a valid Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI).
Salary
Salary range: $150,000.00 – $161,000.00. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
