
Paid Training - Critical Environment Technician

We are hiring 20 candidates to join our Rising Talent Critical Environment training and on-the-job learning apprentice program with TEKsystems.
Program Overview
All candidates will be trained to become Critical Environment Data Center Technicians. After completing the program, our client will interview all graduates for direct-hire roles. All candidates will have the opportunity to interview for a Tier 1 Technician role. Each candidate will need to qualify for employment and pass the interview process. All candidates will be paid $22 per hour for the duration of the program. 4 weeks of remote training with potential on-site hands‑on training 1‑2 times per week – instructor‑led modules. 26 weeks of on-the-job training in Boydton or South Hill, VA. Passing criteria: 82%, based on quizzes, projects, certification, and attendance. All associates will receive a Surface Pro for the bootcamp and use on the job. This role will NOT lead to a typical data center technician path; techs will work with critical environment facilities, not servers and IT equipment.
Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance – oversee critical systems (electrical, mechanical, fire/life safety), conduct inspections and repairs.
Client & Vendor Coordination – liaise with stakeholders, ensure safety and quality.
Infrastructure Support – assist with server installations, upgrades, and disaster recovery.
Reporting – maintain logs and provide updates to management.
Qualifications
Entry‑level candidates with a passion to work on critical environment systems or data center.
Some experience in mission‑critical environments (data centers, hospitals, etc.) preferred but not required.
Familiarity with HVAC, UPS, generators, BMS, construction, and/or electrical.
Physical capability for emergency response; able to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred, not required.
Military experience is highly preferred.
Comfortable completing compliance testing.
Reliable transportation to drive to Boydton, VA and/or South Hill, VA.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 – $22.00 per hour. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plans, or program terms.
