Paralegal
The Law Office of Care Enichen, LLC, Boulder, CO, United States
The Law Office of Care Enichen is seeking a Paralegal for a busy solo‑practice law firm in downtown Boulder, specializing in criminal defense and family law.
Care Enichen is a highly experienced attorney who worked as a deputy district attorney for seven years and as a county court judge for fifteen years before entering private practice in 2013. Care is a zealous advocate for her clients, and is seeking a Paralegal who will assist her in that advocacy with equal energy and drive.
Due to the small size of our law firm, the Paralegal will be expected to flexibly execute on a variety of shifting tasks, including client communications, assistance with filings, office‑management tasks, and billing. It is expected that the Paralegal will have the initiative and self‑organization to manage these shifting tasks on their own without constant direction. The Paralegal works closely with Care and is an essential part of the law firm team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for anybody looking to get first‑hand experience with the courts and the criminal justice system, as well as for those who already have experience. In this role, you will be helping an attorney make a direct, positive impact in the lives of clients who come to our firm at their most vulnerable.
Description of tasks
Assist with the day‑to‑day work of running a small law practice, including answering calls, client intake, email communication with attorneys and clients, attending client meetings and court appearances with Care, and maintaining both paper and electronic client files.
Office‑management tasks: ensuring that office supplies are appropriately stocked and that the office is organized and presentable.
Billing: responsible for drafting and issuing client invoices at the beginning of each month and communicating with our office bookkeeper.
Requirements
Completed bachelor’s degree
Must live in Boulder or the surrounding area
Willingness to work in‑person 5 days per week in downtown Boulder
Energy and initiative; the ability to stay organized and on top of tasks even when unsupervised is essential to this role
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Basic competence with computers, especially Apple products and software including Microsoft Excel
NO attorneys, please
Preferred qualifications
Previous paralegal experience or court experience
Interest in law
Flexible time off
Spacious, private office with its own door and windows in downtown Boulder
