
HGV Driver/Yard Operative

Person & Skills
The successful candidate will be familiar with all aspects of stock handling and have knowledge of heavy‑side building materials. Ideally you will have recent experience of driving a counterbalance and combination forklift, as well as having a valid forklift licence. Additionally, the successful candidate will also need to hold an HGV category C license. A HIAB/ALLMI certificate and HIAB experience, as well as Moffett experience, are all preferred.
Hours
Sociable hours – no overnight stays or late evenings
42.5 hours per week Monday-Friday
Start and Finish times could be 7:30am-5:00pm / 7:00am-4:30pm / 6:30am-4:00pm
Participation in the Saturday Morning Rota - typically two Saturday mornings per month which are paid at on top of basic salary at a higher hourly overtime rate
Permanent, full-time employment (part time may be considered upon request)
Overtime rates, Saturday paid at 1.5x hourly rate, weekdays at 1.25x hourly rate

Key tasks will include
Picking orders and serving Customers
Stock rotation and maintenance
Assisting with Loading / Unloading of HGV vehicles in a safe manner
Driving an HGV Vehicle in accordance with the Delivery Schedule
Maintaining records of journey times, mileage and hours worked
Conducting pre-trip vehicle inspections
Operating a Tacho-Graph in line with current legislation
Delivering a safe, First class service to our valued trade customers and members of the public
Health & Safety awareness/adherence.
