In this role, you’ll provide daily care, support positive outcomes, and help match pets with the families who will love them for life.1. Assist the Dog Team Manager with training Animal Care Associates and volunteers to ensure proper cleaning of the facility, proper care, and handling of the adult dogs and puppies.2. Oversee and assist with the daily, thorough cleaning of dog kennels, public viewing areas, dishes, bedding, etc.3. Oversee proper feeding and other animal care duties as needed, including medical treatment and providing special diets as needed.4. Assisting the Dog Team Manager with budgeting.5. Assist the Dog Team Manager in monitoring FAS, implementation of Focus Dog program for dogs who need extra help to be ready for adoption and giving input on best placement for individual dogs.6. Ensuring the proper documentation and identification for each animal, listing them in the computer database, changing locations, updating photos, and creating individualized descriptions of the animals to help promote them for adoption both in the computer system and on kennel cards.7. Ensuring that adult dogs and puppies move promptly from their initial admission process through evaluation, rehabilitation, grooming, and medical care process to the adoption floor.8. Supporting Clinic in providing the treatment and care of their patients.9. Supporting the Behavior and Transfer Team with transfers from Washoe County Regional Animal Services and other rescue partners.10. Working with Client Services on an adjusting flow of adult dogs and puppies entering the shelter from owner surrenders.11. Providing excellent customer service to potential adopters during meet and greets, dog to dog evaluations and answering questions about adoptable dogs.12. Rapidly identifying problems or patient conditions (medical and behavioral) that need to be addressed and ensuring the animals receive prompt and complete care and treatment.13. Assisting the Dog Team Manager with the onboarding, prescreening, and maintenance of employees on the Dog Team.14. In the event of an emergency, assist with the handling and evacuation of animals located at either Nevada Humane Society campus.1. Handling all animals properly and with compassion at all times, regardless of situation or circumstance.2. Working with Client Services, Volunteers, and Philanthropy Teams to be sure that adult dogs and puppies get out to off-site adoption locations and are generally shown to their best advantage for on-site adoptions.3. Maintain cleanliness of animal and public areas throughout the day. Doing laundry, dishes, washing windows, sanitizing housing kennels and travel crates, cleaning and mopping public areas as needed.4. Providing a healthy, safe, clean, and pleasant environment and facilities for the animals and the public.5. Ensuring that each adult dog and puppy receives adequate daily attention, including all forms of enrichment; regular grooming, nail trims, toys, and play time.6. Arranging transportation for animals as needed to medical appointments, off-site adoption locations, and other shelters.7. Assisting the public, performing adoptions, admissions, and other tasks as needed, always in a manner which demonstrates Nevada Humane Society’s interest, care, and concern for the public and the animals we serve.8. Promoting a humane and caring attitude toward all animals and to always treat all animals with respect and compassion.9. Working harmoniously with staff and volunteers to ensure that all established procedures and policies of the shelter are followed.10. Performing all duties in a manner which encourages attainment of Nevada Humane Society’s goals.11. Treating people and animals with respect; contributing to effective teamwork; fostering good public relations beneficial to the shelter and its programs.12. High School graduate (or equivalent).2. 1+ years of experience handling animals, preferably in an animal welfare environment.3.
