Job Details
Position Overview - The Roadway and Utility Construction Inspector will support construction services efforts by monitoring contractor activities on roadway and underground utility projects. This is an entry level opportunity ideal for someone looking to build a long term career in municipal and DOT infrastructure construction. You will work closely with Construction Managers and project teams to help ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with contract documents.
Responsibilities
Monitor contractor activities on construction sites
Verify work is performed in accordance with plans and specifications
Assist the Construction Manager with coordination of construction activities
Perform daily field inspections of roadway and underground utility work
Maintain and submit accurate daily inspection reports
Document quantities, materials, and field conditions
Support project communication between contractors and project team
Qualifications
Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Natural Resources, or related field from an accredited U.S. institution
0 to 1 year of experience in municipal or DOT roadway and underground utility inspection preferred
ACI Concrete Field Testing Grade I Certification, or ability to obtain within one year
Basic computer proficiency
Exposure to survey practices is helpful
Understanding of contract documents and construction plans is a plus
Authorized to work in the United States
