Are you a Kansas college student passionate about public relations, digital storytelling and making an impact in your state? The Kansas Health Institute (KHI) is seeking an energetic, innovative Digital Communications Intern to join our Strategic Communication and Engagement (SCE) team starting January 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain real-world PR experience, build a competitiveportfolioand work alongside a collaborative, high-performing communications team committed to supporting healthier communities across Kansas.

WhatYou’llDo:
Social Media

Assist in content planning, creation and scheduling across Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook,YouTubeand X.

Capture photos and video content to support storytelling.

Participate in the internal approval workflow and monitorengagement to inform future strategy.

Help develop a marketing plan to promote KHI’s Learning Center — an event space across the street from the Kansas Capitol used by health-related partners.

Contribute copy, visualsand tactical recommendations that support KHI’s communication goals.

Audio/Video Production

Support podcast production, hybrideventsand video projects.

Gather multimedia assets and help create short-form video content for social media and web use.

Work alongside experts in graphic design, editorial content, publication workflows and internal communications.

Receive ongoing guidance and coaching to strengthen your professional confidence and technical skills.

Qualifications

Current enrollment in a college or university, preferably studying public relations, marketing, communications, journalismor a related field.

A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to take on new challenges.

Familiarity with smartphone photography/videography.

Basic understanding of marketing concepts (a plus).

Strong writing,communicationand time-management skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Other pluses: Monday.com, Adobe, Canva familiarity (will train)

Compensation: $15/hour(20-30 hours per week)

Schedule:Remote withoptional in-office days for video production, teammeetingsor special projects.

A consistent weekly schedule will be set at the start of the semester.

Hours must fall between 8 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday–Friday, with flexibility for class schedules.

Start Date: January 2026 (position to be filled immediately); extension will be considered.
