Standard Work Schedule:
Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 4:00pm and Friday 7:00am-3:30pm. MUST be willing to be flexible as jobs may change.
Position Summary:
The
Electrical Estimator
will be responsible for the bidding, documenting, and estimating adjustments to ensure quality project takeoffs in a timely manner.
Position Responsibilities:
Review and understand construction drawings and determine the materials needed for a specific estimate takeoff.
Issue RFI’s necessary for a complete takeoff.
Perform line-item takeoffs on underground and overhead electrical and low voltage systems.
Perform lighting counts and understand the installation labor needed for each type.
Create lighting spreadsheets based on the vendor quotes and estimator’s quantities
Utilize the estimating software to enter takeoffs in their respective categories.
Send bid invites to vendors and subcontractors with detailed descriptions of what is expected and review quotes for accuracy.
Create proposals that are detailed and inclusive of the items/excluded for each project.
Work with owners and general contractors to ensure they have a full understanding on the proposal.
Follow up with clients on the status of upcoming bids and sent proposals.
Maintain an accurate and complete “to do” list. Don’t rely on others to do this.
Communicate with builder for bid specifications and requirements.
Create bid folders in OneDrive with all the project plans and specifications.
Update OneDrive and distribute to vendors when addendums/bulletins and bid clarifications are received.
Contact vendors to ensure they understand what needs quoted.
Sort vendor quotes for each project and review for accuracy.
Determine a project’s jurisdiction and calculate permit costs for estimates.
Obtain quotes from vendors for miscellaneous items needed as they are encountered during the takeoff process.
Update equipment and material costs in estimates.
Communicate bid specifications to vendors and coordinate PM/DM for kickoff meetings.
Upon bid awards, package vendor quotes for the Project Manager.
Assist DM with business development.
Work with Project Managers to ensure folders are updated from pre-bid to post bid. \
Choose appropriate materials, verify prices, check contractors, and calculate profits on a given project.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required: High school diploma or GED
Required: Understanding of how to read all phases of construction drawings
Required: Understand the National Electrical Code and the ability to utilize it
Required 5+ years estimating experience
Required: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and estimating software such as Wrightsoft.
Required: Experience in computerized/digital takeoff.
Required: Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred: 10+ years of estimating experience
Preferred: 2+ years of field experience
Physical Demands:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
