Automation Engineering Technician
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineering Technician to join a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing company based in Columbus, Ohio. The role involves performing calibration, commissioning, installation, and troubleshooting of instruments, process control systems, and equipment. You will ensure adherence to regulatory requirements by applying your expertise in automation and measurement technology.
Responsibilities
Perform calibrations of inspection, measurement, and test equipment according to detailed work instructions.
Record results in a Computerized Maintenance Management or Calibration Data Management System.
Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and perform corrective actions such as adjustments, component replacements, and applying correction factors.
Troubleshoot and maintain equipment to ensure reliable performance, which includes adjusting, repairing, and replacing components such as sensors, cables, connectors, and control boards.
Monitor PLC or HMI program logic during certifications or troubleshooting to understand deviations from proper operation.
Use and maintain primary, secondary, and working calibration standards.
Ensure accurate and complete documentation of work orders.
Identify opportunities for improvement, recommend solutions, and assist with their implementation.
Seek opportunities to learn new skills and actively participate in development to improve team performance.
Work productively and efficiently to increase the quantity of activities completed.
Ensure effective communication of work to system operators and key partners.
Essential Skills
Experience with calibrations, including pressure transmitters, airflow measurement, temperature pressure, and speed/process parameters.
Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting, particularly with Allen Bradley systems.
At least 2 years of electrical troubleshooting experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate's degree in Electrical/Electromechanical Engineering.
Familiarity with calibration and maintenance management systems.
Knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety standards for workplaces.
Work Environment
The work environment is a clean, climate-controlled, state-of-the-art facility that includes office space, labs, and manufacturing areas. Flexible working hours are offered; core shifts include second shift (Sunday-Thursday; 3:00 PM–11:30 PM) and third shift (Monday‑Friday; 11:00 PM‑7:30 AM). The position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week, with flexibility around start and end times as long as core hours are covered.

Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.
Pay
$27.00‑$35.00 per hour.
