APT is expanding our Field Service team and is looking to add a
Field Service Fabricator , dedicated 100% to service and repair operations. This hands‑on position supports customers through the US and Canada by fabricating, repairing, and modifying and restoring stainless steel food‑processing equipment. This position works directly on service jobs at customer sites, partners with Field Service Technician, and reports to the Service Project Manager. This position supports both APT‑manufactured equipment and non‑APT equipment, requiring strong fabrication fundamentals and the ability to adapt to a wide variety of system designs, brands, and plant conditions. The Field Service Fabricator must be prepared to travel short notice. This position may be called in at any time to travel to customer sites for emergency breakdowns or planned service work, depending on the customer’s needs.
Travel Requirements
100% travel customer locations across the US and Canada
Typical rotation: 9 consecutive days on (including travel), followed by 5 days off
Availability to travel on short notice for emergencies or scheduled customer service work
Ability to work in active food and dairy processing facilities
Basic Job Functions
Read and interpret fabrication and assembly drawings
Measure, fit, and assemble components using precision measuring devices
TIG and MIG weld, grind and polish stainless steel assemblies to high‑quality sanitary standards
Perform fabrication, modification, and repair work on both APT and non‑APT equipment
Provide indirect oversight and technical guidance to welders assisting with service jobs
Review and ensure weld quality, fit, and finish meeting customer, sanitary, and safety expectations
Support preventative maintenance, planned service, and emergency repair work at customer facilities
Respond to unplanned service calls as needed to support customer uptime
Meet daily production and service goals to ensure on‑time, high‑quality project completion
Follow all applicable safety, quality, and sanitation standards in food and dairy processing environments
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
5+ years’ experience fabricating or repairing sanitary food‑grade equipment
TIG and MIG welding experience
Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical documentation
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Excellent math and measurement skills
Ability to work independently and provide technical direction in customer‑facing environments
Willingness and ability to travel extensively
Preferred
One or two year welding diploma from technical college or relevant welding experience
Previous experience leading work or providing quality oversight on fabrication projects
Knowledge of welding industry safety standards and best practices
Training
All welding new hires will participate in APT’s
Welding Training Program
to gain a thorough understanding of APT’s welding standards and practices. This training will ensure you are fully prepared for success by familiarizing you with APT’s high standards for quality and safety.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $32.00 - $45.00/hour
The salary range provided reflects the anticipated base compensation for this position. As a result, compensation for the successful candidate(s) may fall anywhere within the stated range.
