Position

Production Supervisor - 3rd Shift
Operations / Production Department
Reports to: Operations Manager
Location: Battle Creek, MI

The Production Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining workflow and ensuring that safety, quality, delivery, and production meet the standards and expectations and running efficiently and profitably. A successful candidate will be a high energy leader, solution-focused, and metric-driven.
Responsibilities

Supervise production team members performing production operations. Be thoroughly knowledgeable regarding the team member handbook, safety guidelines, all policies, programs and procedures that pertain to production team members
On-the-job training of team members in the safe, efficient operation of equipment; instill good housekeeping in the immediate work area so the plant is ready for visitors at any time
Promote a safe work environment and prevent injuries using 5S, job rotation, and ergonomic work practices
Evaluate team members based on attendance, performance, attitude, job knowledge, quality of work, etc. Recommend candidates for hire, promotion, demotion, transfer or release
Maintain staffing within the assigned department at authorized levels. Re-assign team members to eliminate unfavorable labor variances
Understand and positively impact key measures; balance quality, productivity, safety, cost, and morale to achieve positive results
Continuously analyze the assigned area of responsibility for improved methods of production, tool design, communication, reporting, and cost controls; make recommendations to the manager for improvements
Observe production operation within their area of control to ascertain compliance with methods, quality standards, safety regulations, production standards, and efficient operation of equipment. Take corrective action to eliminate any deviation
Consult with team members regarding on-the-job problems such as low production, poor quality, poor attendance, tardiness; document all problems and provide action plans to the manager; take corrective action to assure problems are resolved
With the Plant Manager and Operations Manager, study operation where cost standards are not being met to determine causes and apply corrective action
Maintain team member timesheets and all required forms for payroll in a timely manner
Develop among the production team members a consciousness for the need for teamwork to attain departmental and plant objectives
Understand and promote MBS Lean philosophy and methods
Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in manufacturing, operations, business management or related; preferred
3+ years’ experience in a supervisory capacity
5+ years in production manufacturing
Six Sigma Certification, either Green or Black Belt preferred
