Eaton’s division is currently seeking a Technical Manager, DERMS HIL and Controls.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $183,914.00 - $210,450.00 a year.

What You’ll Do
Manage a team of Power Systems Controls, Power Electronics Controls, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Test Engineers that develop, simulate, and validate control and protection algorithms for microgrids and Distributed Energy Resources (DER). Mentor, guide, and coach the team to ensure quality and scalability of output and drive accountability of schedules and deliverables. Lead hiring process for any new employees, development program participants, and interns in domain for the global team. Initiate and lead design reviews, technical discussions, and brainstorming sessions. Own and drive Global HIL test automation infrastructure strategy for controls testing and validation. Manage relationships with HIL vendors and collaborate with them on new joint development engagements. Act as lab manager to ensure safety and improve and maintain HIL infrastructure to support development and validation activities. Work with team leadership on talent strategy, culture development, and presentations to senior leadership. Position is fixed location based in Moon Township office; however, telecommuting from a home office may also be allowed up to two (2) days per week.

Qualifications

Requires a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a directly related field plus two (2) years of engineering experience in control algorithm development and implementation for electric motors or power converters.

Must have two (2) years of experience in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

Digital control and power electronic control techniques, including, P&Q control

Hardware-In-the-Loop hardware and software, both Typhoon and OpalRT

Test automation for Model-In-Loop, Software-In-Loop, and Controller Hardware-In-Loop setups

Communication protocols, both Modbus and CAN

MATLAB and Simulink Model-Based Design and Auto-Code Generation

IEEE 1547, UL 1741 and EN-50549-10 Standards

Lab Management, including safety, hardware procurement, networking, power management, and 5S

Software development including test script development in Python or embedded development in C/C++

Will accept a Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience in lieu of a Master’s degree and two (2) years of experience.
