Description
The Maintenance Lead coordinates and or performs work involving two or more maintenance skills to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or structures of an establishment in repair.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, including LOTO and proper PPE use
Coordinate and direct daily maintenance activities to support production and minimize downtime
Monitor department performance (downtime, response time, budget) and report status to management
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues on manufacturing equipment, including extrusion machinery
Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to maintain optimal equipment performance
Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics
Order parts and maintain appropriate inventory levels
Train and support maintenance personnel; assist with scheduling and coverage as needed
Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment
Document work orders, repairs, and equipment issues in CMMS
Maintain plant systems (chillers, air supply, resin delivery) and spare parts inventory
Operate machine shop equipment (mills, lathes, welders, grinders, drill press, band saw)
Position Requirements
High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred
5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical (up to 480V), and pneumatic systems
Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment; extrusion experience preferred
Ability to read schematics and technical manuals; PLC knowledge a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in a manufacturing environment
Comfortable working at heights (up to 20 feet), climbing stairs, and around hot equipment
Compensation Information
The hourly range for a Maintenance Lead is $32.50 to $39.00. The pay rate for a successful candidate will depend on the geographic location; this pay range is for a successful candidate in the Chicagoland area. The specific hiring rate within the posted range will depend on the candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
