
Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description
We are seeking a qualified candidate with a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to do what it takes to succeed, for our Maintenance Mechanic opening at our Chicago Terminal. The role includes maintenance, operational, cleanup, and other hands‑on tasks.
Responsibilities
Maintenance, repair and operations of pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical material handling equipment.
Maintenance and repair of rail cars and barges, unloading and loading equipment.
Unloading and loading mechanical and pneumatic trucks, rail, and barge.
Welding is a plus, welding and repair of steel pipes, equipment, repairing leaks with patches, upgrading equipment to last longer, and all related welding needs.
Basic workings of plant equipment, mechanical and electrical and repairing same.
Unloading and loading of inbound and outbound trucks, rail cars, and barges using pneumatic hoses and connection systems
Cleanup, housekeeping, and general maintenance tasks
Perform routine equipment checks and report any mechanical or safety concerns
Run small mobile equipment, including skid steers and loaders.
Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and operational guidelines to maintain a safe work area
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free terminal environment
Maintaining and operating facilities and equipment; general maintenance
Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives
Must be able to work up to 12 hours days and on Saturdays as needed.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Working knowledge in maintenance of material handling systems, including pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical components.
Technical knowledge of material handling equipment, experience with maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment. Welding is a plus.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with the Terminal Manager and effectively collaborate with the team.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, including following established procedures, promoting safe work practices, and actively helping to maintain a safe working environment.
