Located in Memphis, Tennessee, Kappa Delta’s National Headquarters is operated by an executive director and a professional staff numbering over 60 — both onsite and remote. We work together with volunteers to carry out the mission of the organization.
Position Summary
The Accounting Senior will provide support for three legal entities-Kappa Delta Sorority, Kappa Delta Foundation, and Nautilus Management, Inc, Kappa Delta’s national housing corporation. The position will support both the Senior Accounting Manager as well as the Director of Finance in a multitude of traditional accounting activities including payroll, accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and support of budget and forecasting activities.
Responsibilities
Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing including maintaining payroll system and records ensuring data integrity and confidentiality
Assist with timely and accurate process of invoices and payments, compliance with company policies and procedures, including overseeing company credit card system
Preparation and review of the monthly journal entries and internal financial statements
Assist with the annual budget and P&L forecasts
Preparation of long-term projections and financial modeling projects
Assist with annual audit effort, including report and schedule preparation
Research important accounting issues and suggest best practices and applications in accordance with accounting standards
Drive automation efforts and other process improvement processes
Liaise with BTA on special projects and system upgrades impacting the accounting department
Assist finance team with various treasury functions including cash and investment tracking and forecasting, monitoring of debt arrangements, facility fees and chapter house loans, and preparation of related reporting
Assist team with any ad hoc research and special projects
Preparation of sales and property tax returns; liaise with external firms on other annual tax returns and licenses
Mentor and guide accounting staff
Perform other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, with an emphasis in business or accounting or related field, 3 to 5 years of experience
Solid understanding of GAAP accounting standards, accounting terminology and fundamentals
Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and customer service skills required
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) required
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills enabling effective communication with all levels of management
Analytical skills and problem solving in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, work independently and meet deadlines
Team-oriented professional with ability to liaise with other departments as needed
Physical and Environmental Requirements
Must be able to operate a computer and navigate applications with a smart phone, computer, and/or tablet.
Position may require prolonged periods of sitting and/or walking.
Must be able to use hand and arms for repetitive movement such as movement of wrists, hands, and fingers while typing.
Must be able to converse verbally with colleagues via phone and computer programs.
Vision required to see electronic devices
