Job Summary
Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and general knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

Supervisory Responsibilities
None

Duties/Responsibilities

Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors

Uses plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings

Repairs or replaces sinks, water coolers, and toilets

Paint structures and equipment

Repairs or replaces concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks

Replaces damaged paneling and floor tiles

Hangs doors and installs door locks and replaces broken windowpanes

Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery

Understand spoken information

Understand written information

Read and understand work‑related materials

Follow guidelines to arrange objects or actions in a certain order

Notice when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong

Concentrate and not be distracted while performing a task

Combine several pieces of information and draw conclusions

Recognize the nature of a problem

Understand new information or materials by studying and working with them

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

At least two years related experience required

Experience working in an outdoor or indoor building environment

Experience hanging doors, installing door locks, and replacing broken windowpanes preferred

Able to understand verbal or written direction from lead, supervisor, or other craftsmen

Physical Requirements

Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands

Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to load noises

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds at timesAbility to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands as necessary

Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels

Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals

Special Qualifications/Requirements

Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation

Apprenticeship for HVAC or Electrical

Must be to pass Department of Defense or HSPD-12 Zone D criminal background check
