Job Title: Senior Civil or Structural Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Civil or Structural Engineer to lead the design of substation projects for utilities, guiding them from initial engineering through construction support. This role requires a Professional Engineer (PE) license, with a Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred. Candidates should have 7‑10+ years of experience and a degree in civil or structural engineering.
Responsibilities
Design and analyze substation projects, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel structures.
Develop equipment foundations, cabinets, rack designs, and detail steel and concrete components.
Utilize software tools such as Arista 3D, Stad, Mathcad, Lpile, Fad tools, and Mfad for calculations and design.
Prepare substation layouts, bills of materials, and provide construction assistance.
Manage subcontractors during construction phases.
Possess project management skills, including budgeting and effective communication.
Contribute to the growth of the Structural Engineering group, potentially involving forensic work.
Support Overhead Transmission and Gas Infrastructure projects as needed.
Essential Skills
Proven expertise in civil and structural engineering.
Experience in substation and power delivery projects.
Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Ability to detail steel and concrete elements.
Experience in substation design and structural engineering.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred.
Experience with project management and mentoring is a plus.
Work Environment
The role offers a flexible work environment with a preference for candidates near San Diego or Phoenixville, PA offices, expecting 4 days/week in‑office. Remote work is an option, with potential hybrid arrangements. The company is open to 5/8 or 9/80 schedules, ensuring consistency with work‑from‑home schedules if possible. The environment supports a mix of hybrid and fully remote work depending on experience and mentoring capabilities.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $82.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
