Marine Electrician (Mid Level) – Charleston, SC
As a Marine Electrician, you will work on a team supporting cabling, equipment, and C5ISR system installations aboard U.S. Naval ships and at military installations. The role requires hands‑on fabrication, assembly, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting of electromechanical and electronic assemblies in a shipboard environment.

Responsibilities

Perform assignments that are not completely standardized, selecting or adapting standard procedures or equipment.

Receive initial instructions and equipment requirements, perform recurring work independently, and ensure technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.

Construct components, subunits, or simple models, adapting standard equipment as needed.

Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions, following layout diagrams and scientific diagrams.

Conduct tests or experiments, set up and operate standard test equipment, and record test data.

Extract and compile engineering data from field notes, manuals, and reports; process data, identify errors, and present findings.

Assist in design modification by compiling data related to specifications and materials for equipment or components.

Develop information on previous operational failures and modifications.

Use judgment to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek clarification sources.

Assemble or install equipment or parts requiring simple wiring, soldering, or connecting.

Perform routine tasks such as tensile or hardness tests; operate and adjust test equipment; record data.

Maintain specified records of engineering data, perform computations, plot data, and draw simple curves.

Plan and accomplish goals based on experience and judgment.

Qualifications

Active Interim Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoW Secret clearance.

High School diploma or GED required; 2 years of experience (shipboard experience highly preferred).

OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain the certification.

Physical ability to work in drafty, noisy, temperature‑variable environments; climb shipyard dry‑dock stairs; kneel for cable layout; lift up to 50 lbs with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 40 lbs for most shift.

Familiarity with NAVSEA standards and practices in electrical repair, fabrication, and installation.

Ability to obtain respirator qualification and wear PPE during work shift.

Willingness to work second shift and overtime; ability to travel up to 10%.
