POSITION: Cable Technician – Lead Technician
About the Role
This role primarily involves the installation and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure within a Data Center environment. A key aspect is the continuous pursuit of sustainable, repeatable, and improved solutions and processes. The individual is expected to provide leadership to crews and provide structured feedback on project progress to various stakeholders, ensuring high‑quality workmanship, maintaining Data Center cleanliness, and adhering to all production, safety, and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices. The role also requires collaboration with stakeholders to resolve project obstacles and the ability to read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation. A broad understanding of Data Center infrastructure technologies is essential.

What You will Do

Installation/decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment.

Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, always with an eye on improvement.

Provide structured feedback on project progress to stakeholders.

Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain Data Center cleanliness.

Follow all production, safety and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices.

Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles.

Read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation/redline work.

Possess a broad understanding of Data Center infrastructure technologies.

What You will Need

Knowledge of basic telecom hand tools.

Ability to lead a crew of 1‑5 technicians.

Strong customer service skills, perform job walks, and communicate with customers.

Acceptance of responsibility for outcomes of work performed by oneself and direct reports.

Clear understanding of job safety requirements.

Ability to read job floor plans, wiring schemes, and perform wiring testing.

Capability to pull low‑voltage cables and perform field terminations and labeling.

Familiarity with MDF/IDF closet layout, cable dressing, and basic fiber equipment.

Basic copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting.

Experience working in Data Centers, including analog, DSL, T1 extensions, and patching network equipment.

Ability to track and submit timesheets for crew reporting.

Maintain accurate paperwork and run service jobs.

Track lessons learned, metrics/SLA’s, and project close‑out.

Coordinate with QA/QC on quality status walks.

Communicate effectively with foreman, leads, and technicians.

Identify tech strengths and weaknesses.
