Summary
The Senior Electrical/Controls Technician is responsible for the daily maintenance of numerous plant and building electrical systems with guidance from the Electrical/Automation Manager and Automation Controls Engineer. The role involves installing electrical wiring and fixtures, performing routine maintenance and repairs, working live wires, handling electrical emergencies, and adjusting control circuits.

Salary Range: $81,000 - $100,000 Annually

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

Analyze overall plant systems and their operations, ensuring proper functionality.

Perform electrical preventative maintenance and troubleshooting systematically when applicable.

Plan, direct, and record periodic electrical testing; recommend modification or replacement of equipment that fails to meet operating standards.

Install and repair wiring and small conduit, including bending and threading, according to accepted codes and NEC standards.

Monitor inventory part levels to ensure timely availability of products.

Use electrical instrumentation, process controls, relay logic, and control circuits to wire, configure, and maintain motor control circuits (including soft starters and variable frequency drives).

Instruct and supervise personnel and/or contractors on project installations and compliance with all safety rules and procedures; report and correct unsafe actions or conditions promptly.

Respond to emergency calls as directed.

Create and file written reports, including schematics for new or modified systems and requested work estimates.

Global Responsibilities

Maintain regular attendance and physical presence at work.

Perform additional duties as required to meet business needs.

Qualifications
Education / Specialized Knowledge / Professional Certifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Specialized education or training preferred.

Level 2 Technicians must possess a deeper understanding of electrical systems and safety protocols to manage hazardous and technical aspects of electrical work.

Experience

5+ years’ experience in an industrial setting with 110 v/208 v and 480 v, including conduit bending and threading.

Ability to read and interpret manuals, parts catalogs, electrical/control schematics.

Basic knowledge of NFPA‐70 (NEC) and NFPA‑70E (ARC Flash & Electrical Safety).

Basic knowledge of PLC architecture, programming, installations, and maintenance practices is a plus.

Working Conditions

Operate within a fast‑paced environment.

Exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, heavy construction equipment, toxic or caustic chemicals, and weather conditions.

Noise level is usually moderate but can be high; use hearing protection on occasion.

Work through stressful situations while maintaining professionalism and composure.

Local travel required.

Physical Requirements

Talk or hear regularly; stand, walk, use hands; reach with hands and arms.

Distinguish colors.

Sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl occasionally.

Stand and move on uneven, unpaved ground while managing concrete delivery onsite.

Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Operate buttons, levers, and other controls on equipment.

Flexible hours as necessary.

Operate safely within plants, yards, and job sites.

Lift and carry up to 55 pounds frequently; up to 100 pounds occasionally.
