
Dragline Operator

Job purpose
The dragline operator will safely and efficiently extract various materials at our aggregate plant.
Duties and responsibilities
Operate and maintain dragline.
Promote safe work practices and an excellent safety culture
Responsible for safe and efficient operation of all equipment
Complete daily inspections and maintenance checklist
Participates in pre-shift safety huddles
Performs routine maintenance and various equipment repairs as needed
Responsible for reporting incidents and accidents to supervisor or management
Maintain an open line of communication with team members to promote team productivity
Responsible to report to plant supervisor or superintendent of any potential safety hazards
Complete additional tasks as assigned
Required to take MSHA upon hire and annually and adhere to all MSHA regulations and guidelines
Knowledge of
Working knowledge of moving machinery parts and the dangers they pose.
Working knowledge of equipment maintenance such as greasing, fluid levels, adjustments, cables and bucket conditions.
Mobile equipment.
Ability to
Learn and follow company policies and procedures.
Receive and apply directives.
Operate mobile equipment.
Utilize all large hand tools applicable to dragline operation.
Identify and overcome all work related hazards.
Identify and report raw material changes.
Maintain personal and professional safety procedures.
Work under direct and indirect supervision.
Qualifications
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with peers.
Self-motivated with the ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes
Able to operate equipment efficiently
Ability to perform tasks as given from supervisors as well as work as part of a team
Adaptable to changing conditions
Mechanical skills to perform routine maintenance and repairs
Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of dragline operation experience preferred.
Physical requirements
Constant (67‑100%) – Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
Constant (67‑100%) – Ability to enter and exit equipment safely.
Constant (67‑100%) – Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
Constant (67‑100%) – Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Frequent (34‑66%) – Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Occasional (0‑33%) – Ability to shovel.
Occasional (0‑33%) – Ability to work in a field environment with exposure to dust, inclement weather conditions, extreme heat and cold, noise, vibrations, and a variety of petroleum products.
