Summary
The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for the assembly, testing, calibration, and quality assurance of Sustained Acoustic Medicine (SAM) ultrasound devices. This role supports production operations in a regulated medical device environment and ensures that all products meet established performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble SAM ultrasound systems, including transducers, control units, and accessories, following detailed work instructions and engineering drawings
Perform functional testing, calibration, and verification of ultrasound output (e.g., frequency, power, duty cycle)
Inspect components and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications
Troubleshoot and resolve basic mechanical, electrical, and acoustic performance issues
Maintain accurate production records, device history records (DHRs), and quality documentation in accordance with FDA and ISO requirements
Support process improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency, yield, and product reliability
Assist in validation activities, including IQ/OQ/PQ and test method validation
Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA Quality System Regulation (21 CFR Part 820), and ISO 13485
Maintain cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environments as required
Collaborate with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve production issues and implement design or process changes
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree or technical certification in electronics, biomedical technology, manufacturing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of experience in manufacturing or assembly, preferably in medical devices or electronics
Experience with testing equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, or acoustic measurement systems)
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ultrasound or therapeutic energy‑based devices
Familiarity with acoustic output measurement, transducer performance, or impedance testing
Knowledge of regulated manufacturing environments (FDA, ISO)
Experience working in cleanroom environments
Basic understanding of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles
