
Senior High Voltage Construction Manager

Job Description
WSP is currently initiating a search for a High Voltage Electrical Construction Project Manager for our Power Constructors, Inc. (PCI) sector in the Las Vegas, NV office. This field‑based position involves working across various locations in the region and collaborating with our Project Management team to meet client objectives and solve challenges.
Opportunity
Provides high‑level technical leadership and strategic oversight on major power delivery construction programs by guiding complex project execution, resolving critical field challenges, and advising senior leadership and clients on construction delivery strategies. Applies expert knowledge of construction practices, contract administration, and risk management to ensure projects are executed in accordance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and WSP’s operational goals. Serves as a recognized authority across the organization in construction management, mentoring senior professionals, and leading the advancement of best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement in construction oversight and project delivery methodologies. Drives new business and fosters innovation throughout the construction management organization.
Your Impact
Responsible for strategic oversight, alignment of field operations with contract execution, and leading the execution of WSP’s construction management scope for a high‑voltage electrical power delivery construction program; primary interface with the client’s construction management team.
Supports the management of WSP’s Project Quality Program on the program.
Responsible for ensuring that WSP site personnel follow established safety requirements.
Build, lead, and manage an internal workforce across multiple projects within the client’s service territory.
Support the client in reviewing EPC contractor proposals, cost estimates, scope, schedules, invoices, resource plans, risk contingencies, and adherence to the QA/QC plan.
Support the development and/or review of constructability plans for:
Transmission line access road routing network and areas of effect (access road types, guard structures, work areas, landings, lay‑down yards, fly yards, pulling and tensioning sites).
Conductor pull plans inclusive of pulling location easements and construction step plans.
Construction sequencing and outage identification and planning.
Steward contractors and site personnel to follow quality construction methods, safe work practices, and schedule delivery.
Work with project leadership to deliver projects in logical steps and keep them on schedule.
Serve as the mediator between the client and contractor(s) while facilitating harmonious interaction to deliver project goals.
Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
Handle verification of construction progress, change management, and schedule management.
Review and respond effectively to critical project issues.
Assist in project‑related system (line/equipment) outage planning and coordination.
Prioritize and reprioritize multiple tasks to maintain project schedules.
Participate in problem project reviews, providing input on root‑cause analysis and potential solutions to leadership and stakeholders.
Participate in construction kickoff meetings and project meetings with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Prepare detailed reports and present them to management in an organized, clear, and concise manner.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a closely related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
12+ years of relevant post‑education experience in construction management or related areas.
Recognized subject‑matter expertise in construction delivery methods, phasing strategies, and technical field operations.
Proven success leading large, complex construction programs in both public and private sector environments.
Experience advising on strategic project risks, logistics constraints, and contract compliance.
Deep knowledge of construction laws, codes, regulations, and safety requirements.
Proficiency in interpreting complex contract documents, scopes, specifications, and project controls data.
Experience resolving high‑stakes technical disputes and supporting litigation or claim strategies.
Ability to influence executive stakeholders and contribute to enterprise‑wide construction decisions.
Proficiency with advanced construction management tools such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and digital reporting dashboards.
Expert‑level understanding of cost control, schedule management, and integrated project delivery frameworks.
Demonstrated leadership in developing construction execution plans, risk registers, and contingency strategies.
Experience providing executive guidance on project performance, metrics, and continuous improvement.
Strong mentorship skills and experience building technical talent pipelines in construction teams.
Proven ability to manage performance of high‑level professionals and external consultants.
Capacity to lead cross‑functional teams in fast‑paced, high‑stakes environments.
Track record of implementing innovative field techniques and improving construction efficiency.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate technical issues for diverse audiences.
Familiarity with federal, state, and local permitting processes and environmental compliance requirements.
Strong understanding of public‑private partnerships, CM/GC, EPC, and other alternative delivery models.
Experience supporting business development, client engagement, and contract negotiations.
Demonstrated commitment to ethical practices, regulatory compliance, and organizational integrity.
Ability to work collaboratively across geographies, business lines, and client sectors to achieve integrated project delivery.
OSHA 30‑hour safety certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Professional Engineer (PE), or an equivalent credential.
Experience leading construction delivery for power delivery megaprojects or programs.
Proficiency with Primavera P6 and advanced analytics platforms.
