The Coordinator, Nurse Aide Instructor, functions as the academic administrator for the Nurse Aide discipline area, providing accessible, quality learning experiences in the classroom, laboratory, and distance learning settings. The Coordinator facilitates the learning process to help students succeed, offers accurate academic and career advisement, seeks professional development to implement best teaching practices, maintains office hours, completes required course assessments and documentation on time, attends college meetings and institutional functions, contributes to curriculum development, and collaborates with educational partners and other college areas to meet student and partner needs.

Essential Responsibilities
Plan and deliver accessible, quality instruction that enhances student learning and ensures understanding of course outcomes.
Teach 15‑22 contact hours each week, prepare objectives, assignments, assessments, materials, grading standards, and attendance policies in accordance with college and department policies.
Develop and distribute course syllabi, keep online courses updated, and begin and end courses as scheduled.
Ensure classroom and online environments are appropriate for all student learners.
Maintain office hours and respond promptly to electronic communication.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades and submit final reports timely.
Provide academic and career advising, keeping up with program and transfer requirements.
Develop new courses or revise course content and outcomes, recommending textbooks, supplies, software, and equipment.
Collaborate with faculty to develop the program’s course schedule and assign teaching workloads.
Participate in institutional effectiveness processes, including program review and course outcome assessment.
Manage the assigned departmental budget, plan resources, and recommend staffing needs.
Mentor and evaluate full‑time and part‑time faculty to ensure quality instruction and completeness of forms, grades, and attendance reports.
Participate in recruitment and retention efforts; review program publications, webpages, publicity, and community relations activities.
Establish and maintain productive working relationships with faculty, staff, advisory committees, external agencies, and educational partners.
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure quality instruction and successful implementation of department and division goals, the college’s Strategic Plan, and statewide initiatives.
Support collaboration with other divisions to align credit and non‑credit courses and programs where appropriate.
Attend workshops, seminars, conferences, and make presentations to outside agencies; conduct research and implement best teaching practices.
Engage in 30 hours of professional development, including required employee training offered by the college.
Support the college’s retention, progression, and completion initiatives, leading to student success.
Adhere to college policies, procedures, and faculty guidelines.
Marginal Responsibilities
Serve on standing and ad hoc committees and focus groups; research and develop recommendations for academic and instructional programs.
Maintain contacts with business, industry, and professional organizations to keep programs current.
Travel to the Caldwell campus, Watauga campus, or other off‑campus sites if needed.
Participate in public information efforts; support college functions and cultural activities.
Assist with inventory of programmatic equipment; oversee labs and facilities designated for the program.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
At least two years (4,000 hours) of increasingly responsible professional experience as a registered nurse.
Experience in teaching and/or counseling at a post‑secondary level, or completion of a course in teaching adults, or experience in supervising nurse aides.
At least one year (2,000 hours) of professional RN experience in long‑term care facility services, demonstrated by experience working in a licensed skilled nursing facility or a distinct part of a hospital, or supervising/teaching students in a skilled nursing facility.
Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
Current unrestricted license or multi‑state licensure privilege to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina.
Conditions
Full‑time, 12‑month position requiring 36 hours per week (27 hours on‑campus or approved alternate location, Monday‑Friday; flexible scheduling for remaining 9 hours).
Local travel between campuses and off‑campus sites; limited out‑of‑state travel for training and conferences.
Work environment: office and classroom; requires maintenance of equipment, supplies, cleanliness, and OSHA compliance.
