Summary
We are seeking a field-savvy, systems-oriented HR Manager to lead and scale all aspects of Human Resources across a rapidly growing, multi-location organization (14+ locations, 600+ employees).
This individual will build, standardize, and improve HR systems and communication across locations, while serving as a strategic partner to operations and leadership.
The role currently has one direct report (Payroll Specialist) and will have the opportunity to expand the HR function as the organization grows over the next 6–12 months.
The ideal candidate is highly operational, data-driven, and an exceptional communicator who is a self-starter and thrives in fast-paced, decentralized environments.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Systems
Build, standardize, and continuously improve HR processes across all locations (onboarding, performance management, communication, and compliance)
Develop and track key HR metrics (turnover, retention, staffing, labor trends) and provide actionable insights by location
Ensure consistency in employee experience while allowing for operational flexibility at the store level
Payroll, Benefits & Compliance
Oversee payroll operations and directly manage the Payroll Specialist to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
Audit payroll and benefits systems regularly to ensure proper calculations and identify improvement opportunities
Lead benefits administration including vendor management, claims resolution, invoice approval, and annual renewals
Manage ACA tracking and lead open enrollment execution
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws; proactively update policies as regulations evolve
Lead the annual 401(k) audit and coordinate with external auditors
Employee Relations & Field Support
Serve as the primary HR partner to operations leadership across all locations
Lead employee and guest incident processes, driving root cause analysis and corrective action with field leadership with the goal to eliminate them
Provide guidance and support on employee relations issues, ensuring consistency and fairness across locations
Regularly travel to locations to build relationships, assess needs, and ensure alignment
Talent & Performance Management
Partner with operations leadership to develop and execute scalable recruiting and talent strategies
Lead the evolution of performance management processes, including job descriptions, review frameworks, and compensation structures
Identify opportunities to improve retention, engagement, and leadership development across locations and annually summarize the employee survey
Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook
Drive clear and consistent communication across all locations, ensuring alignment between leadership and field teams
Prepare and deliver presentations and training on HR initiatives and organizational changes
Qualifications
3+ years of progressive HR experience in a multi-location or field-based environment (restaurant, retail, hospitality, healthcare, etc. strongly preferred)
Strong payroll and HR operations experience (experience with Paylocity preferred)
Demonstrated ability to build or improve HR systems and processes, not just maintain them
Proven ability to partner with operations teams and influence across decentralized locations
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights (Excel, reporting tools, presentations)
Excellent communication skills with experience rolling out initiatives across multiple teams or locations
Bachelor’s degree, SHRM certification, or equivalent practical experience
Compensation
Base $75,000-$90,000
Target Total compensation: $105,000-$110,000 (including annual bonus)
