Position Summary
Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Risk Manager. This person will be an integral participant in the mission life cycle managing risk at the corporate and program levels, analyzing potential risks within human space systems within Axiom. In this role, work with multi-disciplinary project/business teams to analyze and provide solutions for minimizing risk. The Risk Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our astronauts throughout their mission using quantitative risk analysis methods. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about space flight, excels at problem solving, and has strong leadership qualities. The role requires a commitment to safety and strong analytical, organizational, time management, and communication skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Manage Corporate and Program level risk at Axiom

Perform risk analysis to quantify likelihood and/or impacts of individual risks using the most appropriate form of risk analysis

Analyze risks and choose the most effective strategies for communicating the results to various stakeholders

Develop controls/mitigations plans/strategies for identified risks

Assess risk mitigation tasks and other details utilizing statistical tools and methods

Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership

Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle

Perform additional job duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Experience navigating and working within the NASA safety/risk processes is preferred

Technical experience in analyzing risk for human spaceflight. Consideration will be made for relevant experience in other industries

Evaluating systems to gather the necessary data for analyses

Experience applying various forms of quantitative risk analyses such as Fault Tree Analysis, Decision Tree Analysis, Sensitivity Analysis, and Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) modeling

Experience working with electronic statistical risk analysis tools

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Math, or Science required, 5+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Track record of making things happen in ambiguous, fast-moving environments

Uses good judgement to solve problems proactively, positively impacting hard challenges

Demonstrated organization skills to meet tight deadlines with high quality results

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements

Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation

Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position

Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time)

May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time)
