Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is a 365-entertainment destination for world‑class events located in Austin, TX. The sports and entertainment portfolio at COTA is unmatched in the country with Formula 1 US Grand Prix, NASCAR, and MotoGP attracting global fans during championship races on the famed Circuit. LiveNation produces over 30 headline concerts each year at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater.
Job Description
The Safety Team member is responsible for the safety of race operations at COTA and the facility. This includes EMS, fire suppression, track inspections, vehicle recovery, track clean up, and working with other members of the COTA staff to maintain a safe racing environment.
Responsibilities
Respond to on‑track incidents
Provide care for the driver
Perform fire suppression
Execute driver extrication
Assist in vehicle recovery and coordinate with wreckers and rollbacks
Assist in fluid clean up and debris removal on the track
Assist in track maintenance, including repair of walls and fencing
Serve as a pit lane firefighter as needed
Act as ground EMS personnel for MotoGP events
Conduct morning inspection checks of vehicles
Work side by side with other team members
Observe track and facility safety and security procedures
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Will need to learn how to communicate with race control and track personnel
Execute proven processes and seek improvements for track safety
Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
Maintain confidentiality
Show professional behavior and appearance
Follow directions without interruption during stressful, fast‑paced events
Maintain emotional control during stressful, fast‑paced events
Read and interpret written information
EMT Basic or higher license is recommended
Firefighter I or equivalent is recommended
English speaking
Ability to work long hours and with a dynamic schedule
Work a minimum of 3 days per month
Work both weekends and weekdays
Work the entire weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) for at least 2 major events in a calendar year
Wear proper personal protective equipment for the task
Possess a valid driver’s license
Physical Demands
Lift and move up to 50 lbs
Endure seasonal temperatures during constant outdoor work
Run short distances and navigate over 3‑foot walls
Run and walk through track gravel traps
Work Environment
Exposure to high‑speed traffic, moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather, and hot and cold temperatures
High noise level in the work environment
Potential exposure to and care for injured personnel
