Department Overview
Electric Transmission Line ensures the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. We are responsible for PG&E's electric transmission design engineering, and we support other LoB for business planning, operations engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, restoration and emergency response. Under supervision and with latitude for independent action or decision, our team performs engineering work on a professional level in design of engineering jobs, projects, or parts thereof. We prepare designs, calculations, drawings, layouts and/or studies from field inspections, preliminary sketches, rough diagrams, specifications, and/or instructions requiring knowledge of engineering practices and shop and field procedures.
Position Summary
This position is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective bargaining.
This position will be directly responsible for transmission line engineering activities for transmission facilities, including substation, underground transmission facilities, etc. The candidate will provide engineering and technical supports within a team of transmission line design engineering group and will also be responsible for managing engineering drawings and files. Under supervision, performs technical work in connection with the design, construction, maintenance, or operation of the Company's facilities or functions related thereto as an assistant to a group of engineers.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreement, and internal equity.
Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the hourly rate range for this position is $39.62 to $56.78,subject to collectively bargained wage increases.
Job Responsibilities
Chart making
Preparing graphs, drawings, job packages, and sketches
Obtaining, extracting, and analyzing engineering and SAP data
Preparing and reviewing computer input and output
Assisting in administrative work associated with the technical office activities and contracts
Data and file managing in SharePoint, Share drives, D2/ProjetWise, zClarity, etc.
Maintaining project files and providing project documentation and status as requested
Supporting the issuance of engineering/design service/consulting contracts including generating shopping carts, change orders, review and processing invoices
Posting good receipts along with tracking and record keeping
QA/QC drawing format and extract various drawing attributes for file uploads
Prepare, file, audit, Documentum documents and record drawings
Coordinating with engineers, sourcing, project management, portfolio, accounting, contractors and various other PG&E stakeholders
Performs technical work, under supervision, in connection with the design, construction, maintenance, or operation of the Company's plant or functions related thereto as an assistant to an engineer or group of engineers
Performs technical work, under supervision, in connection with contract work.
Significant independent action required
Makes and checks mathematical computations
Writes and revises computer programs
Qualifications
Minimum:
Associate's degree in Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience
Desired:
3 years of clerical or administrative support experience
Construction administrative support experience
Advanced and demonstrated proficiency with business software products (Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Adobe Acrobat, zClarity, Documentum, etc.)
Ability to understand written technical standards and to communicate readily with others, both orally and in writing
Ability to prepare complex forms, reports, records and reference data, including statistical records and computations required for reports and audits
Excellent work ethics
Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and team player
Strong attention to detail
Meticulous recordkeeping of items to check for in drawing packages
Strong oral and written communication skills
