Role Description
The Casting Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Chicago, IL. The role involves designing and developing high-quality castings using advanced engineering principles and methods to meet customer specifications. Responsibilities include analyzing and interpreting technical drawings, collaborating with the production team to optimize casting designs, and ensuring compliance with customer specifications and quality standards. The engineer will also troubleshoot design challenges, recommend improvements, and leverage design software to create solutions that enhance manufacturing efficiency tooling efficiency.
Qualifications
Proficiency in CAD tools and other design software for casting and manufacturing systems to for casting layout and gating design.
Strong understanding of metallurgical principles, particularly in Brass, Bronze, and Lead-Free alloys.
Experience in interpreting technical drawings, product specifications, and engineering standards.
Problem-solving skills, including identifying design and production inefficiencies and implementing effective solutions by learning our proprietary gating.
Familiarity with production processes such as sand casting, no bake process and shell cores and core prints.
Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, or industrial engineering, Metallurgy, or industry experience.
Prior experience in the foundry or manufacturing industry is beneficial.
