Summary Of Position
The Junior Staff Accountant will incorporate accounting knowledge, analysis, and problem-solving principles within a medium-sized manufacturing organization. They must possess an understanding of GAAP and internal controls. The Junior Staff Accountant will work alongside the Staff Accountant and Accounting Manager to execute the functions that are vital to the company’s daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reporting timelines.

Essential Functions

Performs a wide range of general accounting duties, including month-end close tasks, account reconciliations, and the preparation of journal entries.

Assists with financial, federal, and state audits by providing necessary documentation and support.

Aids the Treasury department by processing bank transactions and providing historical transaction reports.

Provides support to Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions.

Manages the processing of employee expense reports through SAP Concur.

Tracks capital expenditure spending and follows procedures for asset management.

Supports the preparation and submission of tax filings and U.S. government reports.

Aids the department in developing, implementing, and maintaining company policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Participates in the budget planning process by gathering, analyzing, and consolidating financial data.

Identifies and recommends opportunities for process improvements within the accounting function.

Prepares ad hoc reports by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data and trends.

Completes additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills, Education, And Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

Proficient using Microsoft Office software, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Thorough knowledge of GAAP accounting, compliance, and internal controls.

The ability to effectively communicate, influence, and motivate at all levels of the organization.

Time Management & Organizational Skills – Consistently meets deadlines and commitments. Prioritizes and plans work activities and utilizes time effectively to deliver on realistic action plans.

Problem solving skills – the individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Dependability – the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction, and solicits feedback to improve performance.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22.C.F.R.

Preferred Qualifications

SAP software experience

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a comparable accounting position

TRAVEL

May be required (1 – 2 occasions per year) to travel to other local sites during the workday.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Typically sits for extended periods at a computer workstation

May access and work in the manufacturing plant

While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles

The employee may be exposed to vibration

The employee may be exposed to caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

May be required to travel to other site locations during the work day

May be required to work weekends to meet department and business demands

Work with safe manufacturing processes and understand that eyewear is mandatory in the manufacturing area.

Knows that safety shoes are recommended in the manufacturing area
