Overview
Pipe Fabricator position at Thermo Fisher Scientific, Cincinnati. Location: THERMOFISHER SCIENTIFIC, CINCINNATI - 46459001. Employment Type: Full-time. Workdays/shifts: Weekdays only; specific shifts will be provided during the interview process. Pay Range: $37.50 per hour.
Role summary: The Pipe Fabricator is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and modifying piping systems that support plant operations to ensure safe and efficient operation of utilities such as steam, water, air, gas, chemicals, and other process or facility-related piping systems. The position works with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to minimize downtime and maintain safety and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), schematics, and isometric drawings.
Perform pipe cutting, threading, bending, welding, brazing, and fitting as required.
Lay out, measure, cut, thread, and bend metal components and pipes using saws, torches, and grinders.
Join pipe sections and structural components using GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), or SMAW (Stick) welding to industry standards.
Conduct pressure tests, hydrostatic tests, and inspections to ensure system integrity and detect leaks.
Troubleshoot leaks, pressure issues, and system failures.
Support plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency repairs.
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
Attend work and arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
Other duties may be assigned as needed based on account requirements.
Qualifications
1–5 years of industrial or plant pipefitting experience.
Completion of a pipefitter apprenticeship or equivalent experience preferred.
Knowledge of industrial/facility piping systems and materials (carbon steel, copper, PVC).
Experience with welding and/or brazing; certifications are a plus.
Ability to read blueprints, P&IDs, and schematics.
Skilled in pipe cutting, threading, bending, welding, brazing, and basic fabrication.
Basic math skills for calculating angles and measurements.
Understanding of OSHA and plant safety requirements, including LOTO, confined space, and hot work.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
A valid driver’s license may be required.
