
Design Associate I

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast, with offices located throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee.
GMC has an opening for a Design Associate to support on‑going projects in our Augusta, GA office. The Designer will be involved in all stages of design and construction and will assist project managers in producing documents and managing the projects. Applicants should be well organized, able to work within a design system, demonstrate problem‑solving ability, and be good communicators willing and able to network with outside consultants and AHJs to help drive the project.
Responsibilities
Performs advanced knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD
Proficiency in Adobe Products/Bluebeam
Must be able to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment
Proficiency in Autodesk Revit is a plus
Experience with architecture, engineering or construction drawings
Ability to think in a 3D environment
Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word and Excel required
Ability to effectively meet and accommodate deadlines on multiple projects
Ability to document as‑built conditions in existing structures
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or equivalent from an accredited college preferred
Minimum of 5+ years of technical and construction document production experience – retail experience preferred
Understanding of building codes, construction methods, building systems, and engineering systems
Working knowledge and practice skills of architectural product systems
Working knowledge of A&E work standards, processes, and policies
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines and prioritize assignments
Understanding of the tasks associated with the preparation of construction documents
