Your Opportunity as the Assistant Manager, Design
The Assistant Manager, Design is responsible for leading the project management, development, and execution of package design across the JMS portfolio of brands. This role demands excellent communication skills and requires ongoing collaboration with many internal and external teams, including Brand Marketing, Innovation, R&D, Insights, Design and Production. The Assistant Manager will have strong project management and organizational skills, including timeline and budget management, and will be the team’s hands‑on expert for maintaining project management workflow tools and providing regular project tracking and reporting. The role also supports creative activities that include new item packaging design, adaptive line extensions, and packaging redesign adaptations, embodying a blend of project management, business acumen, and design management skills to lead and support packaging initiatives across multiple JMS brands. Responsibilities include reviewing packaging assets for quality assurance, approving color targets, and coordinating asset deployment to broader cross‑functional teams.
Location: Orrville, Corporate Offices
Work Arrangements: Hybrid - onsite a minimum of 9 days a month primarily during core weeks as determined by the Company; maybe more as business need requires
In This Role You Will
Lead large volume projects with strong project management skills and clear communication
Collaborate with Design, Brand and Innovation teams to ensure final project outputs meet design and business objectives
Maintain project management tools for Design team, delivering regular tracking and reporting
Work closely with Design and Production teams to ensure design intent is carried through to execution
Project manage the design aspects of a variety of projects with external design agencies
Assist in co‑leading phases of strategic design projects, reviewing color correct proofs and digital renderings and fielding ad‑hoc image and mockup requests for the team
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
At least 3 years of Project Management experience (Creative PM experience a plus)
Experience in CPG project and budget management
PC and Mac proficient with Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and act with a sense of urgency
Self‑starter with proven ability to multi‑task
Excellent presentation skills
Willingness to travel if needed.
