The Design-Build Coordinator will serve as the primary design lead for the SW 10th Street Design-Build Project, a major transportation infrastructure initiative focused on widening and improving I-95 and enhancing connectivity at the SW 10th Street and Hillsboro Boulevard interchanges. This project is critical to improving safety, mobility, and regional traffic flow throughout Broward County. In this role, the Design-Build Coordinator is responsible for overall design coordination, technical oversight, and seamless integration between design and construction. The position ensures that all design deliverables are accurate, fully compliant with FDOT requirements, and delivered in accordance with the project schedule. The coordinator will work closely with FDOT, the joint venture partners, designers of record, and subcontractors, serving as the primary point of contact for all design-related matters throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities Lead and coordinate all design phases, from conceptual through final design and construction support
Review drawings, calculations, and technical submittals for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with FDOT standards
Ensure designs meet project specifications, permitting requirements, regulatory standards, and schedule milestones
Act as the primary interface between designer, construction, and project stakeholders, resolving technical issues and facilitating decision-making
Manage design schedules, deliverables, and tracking systems to ensure on-time completion
Participate in meetings with FDOT, designers, utilities, subcontractors, and internal project teams, documenting outcomes and follow-ups
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior design staff or coordinators as needed
Review and coordinate proposed revisions to technical standards, criteria packages, or ordinances
Support constructability reviews, change management, and risk mitigation related to design
Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure successful project delivery

Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
10+ years of experience in heavy civil transportation projects, with significant design-build exposure
Experience with FDOT roadway, interchange, and infrastructure projects strongly preferred
Proven ability to manage large, multidisciplinary design efforts independently
Proficiency with coordination and design management tools such as Bluebeam, BIM 360, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, P6 and MS Project
Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
Strong work ethic with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative design-build environment
