SUMMARY
Maintenance Tech performs facility maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, machine servicing, electrical, grounds maintenance, and vehicle servicing. The maintenance tech is responsible for performing preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks including troubleshooting issues, repairing failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment such as welders, pneumatic hand tools, electric hand tools, pumps, motors, compressors, etc.

Repair or replace control devices such as switches, sensors, button controllers, valves, motor starters, etc.

Perform work order repairs, inspections, and adjustments

Fabricate and modify new and existing equipment

Participate in plant safety, health, and environmental programming

Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete duties in assigned area

Read and follow detailed operator instructions, installation drawings, blueprints, etc., as required □ Performs all aspects of facilty maintenance

Performs all machinery maintenance - change parts or perform other routine machinery maintenance

Completes grounds maintenance, including snow removal

Manage spare parts inventory

Assist with Safety/Environmental tasks

Self-check work and inspect prior processes

Maintain a clean and safe work area

Initiate process improvements when able

Work in close proximity to customer, as needed

Operate any equipment or tools needed to perform the job

Assist other team members and departments as needed

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent experience

Good communication skills, both verbal and written

Flexibility with time and schedule - must be able to work with schedules and deadlines

Must have a good general mechanical background and a strong mechanical aptitude

Must have pneumatics and hydraulics experience

Minimum basic knowledge of electrical/electronic background, with an advanced background preferred

Welding experience

2-4 years experience in manufacturing and facilities maintenance

1 year experience with HVAC, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, and basic electrical repair-120v & 480v

(consideration will be given to equivalent combinations of education and experience)

Familiar with a variety of maintenance concepts, practices, and procedures, including PM

Relies on judgment and experience to plan and accomplish goals

Knowledgeable in procedures, safety measures in area(s) of specialty and LOTO

Work with OSHA and EPA guidelines

Performs a variety of complicated tasks

Wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected

Must have a valid driver's license

Ability to use basic hand and power tools

Ability to read and use a tape measure to precise measurements

Ability to work in a team environment

Ability to retain and apply instructions

Work overtime on short notice

Ability to accumulate tools and equipment required to perform assigned tasks

Ability to read and comprehend documents and prints at a high level

Willingness to improve self and company (including pursuing additional training if needed)

Basic computer skills

Basic math skills; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Must be detailed orientated

Ability to read and understand truck specification documents

Ability to communicate and understand in English

Ability to work within safety guidelines

Must be self‑motivated

Must be able to work with little to no supervision after two weeks

Hours 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM Mon - Thurs (Note: will follow production schedule which works most Fridays)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The associate frequently is required to talk or hear. The associate is required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crawl over, under and around equipment. The associate is required to frequently work from a ladder or at heights up to 11 feet off the ground. May be exposed to vibration.

The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds frequently, move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
General production environment. The noise level ranges from moderate to loud occasionally. Environment may be warm or cool, depending on weather and other factors.

SCHEDULE
Hours depend on business and department needs. All positions are subject to overtime as needed. Overtime can be scheduled by adding additional days to the scheduled days for the week or by extending the hours worked. See a supervisor for information on overtime worked in a particular department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. The associate may be asked to assist in the training of new associates on specific duties.
