Job Overview
Maintains stock levels within the Meat Department’s sales floor by replenishing products as needed. Executes the boomerang theory by providing exceptional service to all guests behind the service counter and on the sales floor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist guests with locating items on or off the sales floor

Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and other special requests

Provide excellent guest services by professionally answering department telephone or on the sales floor

Wrap meat and seafood in appropriate packaging

Ensure accurate pricing on items within displays and sales floor–fills, rotate and remove product according to date

Support teammates and positively contribute to the culture of the Meat Department

Address guest concerns and resolve issues by practicing the boomerang principle

Ensure high standard quality control by inspecting, rotating, maintaining proper temperatures, and replenishing all meat products on display

Maintain proper inventory levels in Meat Department (containers, wraps, tags, etc.)

Maintain food safety logs and lead by example through following proper procedures

Ensure all quality standards are being met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm

Other duties as assigned

Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences

Qualifications

Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and all personnel

Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to handle a diverse crew in a highly stressful environment

Complete understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies

Ability to apply on-the-job safety training to recognize and react to possible safety hazards on store premises; proper training and knowledge of slicers, proper lifting techniques, trash compactor, baler

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Stand in one place for a long period of time, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly

Full range of upper body motion

Lifting up to 80 pounds on an occasional basis

Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures such as freezers, coolers, kitchens, and sales floor

Repetitive motion of hands and wrists

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Work Schedule
The Meat Utility Worker may be scheduled part-time or full-time, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
