Job Summary
Operate one or several types of power construction equipment (e.g., RT backhoe, loader, trencher, track hoe, RT forklift, mini excavator, etc.) to excavate, move, and/or grade material in accordance with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Operate gasoline, diesel, pneumatic, or electric powered equipment to move objects or material.
Assemble and operate compressors and pumps; use levers, pedals, and hand wheels to control attachments such as buckets, scrapers, and swing booms.
Perform light maintenance duties including cleaning, greasing, and oiling machines; document maintenance logs.
Conduct daily inspections and record results on a daily log.
Coordinate machine actions with other crew members, properly positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals.
Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials using trucks, crawler tractors, shovels, graders, or related equipment.
Check fuel supplies at sites to ensure adequate availability.
Drive and maneuver equipment with blades for topsoil removal, vegetation clearing, or terrain leveling.
Calculate slopes and grades of materials.
Maintain knowledge of trenching and excavation requirements and regulations.
Identify and avoid potential hazards (utility lines, other equipment, fallen objects) and locate underground services prior to beginning work.
Follow Red Tag procedures and maintain an OCI Equipment Qualification card for the unit being operated.
Adhere to load capacity charts and ensure proper equipment support based on capacity and type.
Participate in safety-related processes and programs; report hazards and use stop‑work authority if necessary.
Engage in pre-job work planning and safety discussions; eliminate or mitigate identified hazards.
Communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.
Provide on‑the‑job training or mentoring to helpers and laborers.
Produce quality work, meeting plan, specification, and industry standards.

Minimum Qualifications
Multiple years of experience as an equipment operator or a combination of experience and education with strong knowledge of operating and rigging crafts.
Knowledge of operating limitations and safe work practices for each type of equipment.
Completed medical examiner’s certificate on file before operation begins.
Commercial driver’s license if operating equipment on public roads.
Minimum age of 18 years.
Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
