ABOUT THE ROLE
The
Admissions Coordinator
is responsible for managing the Health Center admissions process and for establishing and maintaining an open, effective communication between the facility and referral sources, physicians, and third‑party payers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtain referrals from hospital social workers, physicians, or family members keeping wait lists current.
Act as the Health Center public relations person, providing tours of the facility and pertinent information regarding admissions as well as occasional off‑site visits to hospitals and doctor's offices.
Conduct admission interviews with the resident.
Review all admission related paperwork with the resident and/or responsible party including Medicare Part A coverage and non‑coverage procedures.
Process all Medicare denial letters, Medicare certification and re‑certifications according to Medicare regulations.
Maintain ongoing census activity such as admissions, discharges, deaths, room transfers, changes in payment methods, and temporary and permanent apartment status.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficient in MS Office with strong MS Excel skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and criminal background check.
Good working knowledge of Medicare Part A and certification procedures.
Some experience in long‑term care (preferred).
Ability to handle several tasks and prioritize them at the same time.
