Summary
Mortenson is currently seeking an ironworker that will be responsible for marking, positioning, and securing structural steel members to reinforce concrete or building structures.
Responsibilities

Set up, flag, and inspect a crane; inspect rigging properly
Check in truck deliveries against bill of lading; direct forklift/crane to unload delivery truck
Counting bars and bundles of rebar, dobies, and wire mesh
Directing forklift/crane to unload delivery truck
Shake out rebar, distribute/organize accordingly; use pliers to tie rebar intersections with tie wire
Splicing mats or rebar sections together with short rebar dowels
Understanding building codes/requirements
Cut excess rebar ends and miscellaneous pieces with gas cut saw or cutting torch
Install mechanical rebar splices by bolting or welding ends together; install caps on vertical rebar dowels for safety; install rebar dowels into fresh concrete footings
Determining number, size, shape, and location of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions
Bending steel rods with hand tools or rodbending machine
Reinforcing concrete with wire mesh
Receive and offload all major components; install loose components for nacelle, hub, and tower preparation
Connect blades to hub; set base and tower sections; handle taglines
Climb ladders (average 80m)
Involved with main erection crane assembly and teardown
Ornamental Ironworker: installing prefabricated ornamental ironwork
Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED
One (1) year of related experience preferred
Equipment certifications as required
Current driver’s license
Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; knowledge of equipment and their uses; understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, and multiplication); ability to work independently
Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs
