Field Operations Specialist

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the leading champion of empowerment and opportunity for individuals throughout the region in securing economic self‑reliance, social equality, and civil rights, is seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for helping others to work as a Field Operations Specialist. The Field Operations Specialist supports on‑site disaster recovery efforts, performing demolition, debris management, material salvage, and equipment operation while ensuring strict adherence to OSHA and environmental safety standards. This role works as part of a field operations team in partnership with employer partners within disaster impacted areas.
Key Responsibilities
Set up safety barriers, dust control measures, and exclusion zones.
Perform structural dismantling (buildings, roofs, and fixtures) using hand/power tools and heavy machinery (excavators, bulldozers).
Load, sort, salvage, and properly dispose of debris and hazardous materials.
Operate machinery and conduct daily equipment inspections.
Follow all local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Collaborate with supervisors and field crew members to support and guide equipment operators.
Identify site risks and operational impacts, report findings to the Field Operations Coordinator.
Document recovery activities, prepare reports, and create work orders for repairs.
Other duties assigned.
Ideal Candidate
Knowledge of demolition methods, safety practices, and regulations.
Ability to operate hand/power tools and heavy machinery.
Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
Strict adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety protocols is mandatory.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work in a team within disaster recovery zone.
