What To Expect
The Construction Safety Technician will work to influence, inspire, and empower various groups, including construction staff, service leaders, stakeholders, and partner contractors. Their goal is to implement and continuously improve Tesla's EHS&S strategy, ensuring a safe, healthy, and high-performing workplace. They will have a strong training background with the ability to teach orientation level training. They will work in the field with our construction teams and partner contractors to ensure Tesla’s EHS standard are met or exceeded.
What You'll Do
Develop and maintain a partnership with and serve as a key advisor on EHS matters to Tesla’s construction team, stakeholders and partner contractors
Serve as an EHS&S technical expert to identify key risks including legal compliance requirements and responsibilities in all phases of construction and tool install
Respond to and investigate EH'S events by determining causes and preventative actions with management and business teams; use internal and external software tools complete reports and manage actions
Conduct proactive field and facility inspections to verify work in progress meets EHS&S goals, and document findings using internal and external software tools and applications; review improvement opportunities with EHS&S management, supervisors, operations managers, and stakeholders
Lead and support routine and ad hoc EHS&S meetings with area management and stakeholders to communicate EHS&S programmatic improvements and changes, incident learnings, actions, and KPI's performance compared to company and department EHS&S goals
Be a visible model in the field and teach, train and coach business teams and support staff on fundamental EHS&S concepts and principles to reduce risk, and influence, inspire, and empower business teams and staff to reduce risk per our Tesla EHS&S vision, values and principles
Demonstrate the ability to execute on the responsibilities of the role in a fast-paced and growing global organization in a first-principles' approach
What You'll Bring
3+ years of progressive Environment, Health, and Safety experience in organizations at scale and educational degree in an EHS&S, engineering, or related field of study or 6 years of construction safety experience
Have a strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to positively interact with craft workers and foreman, EHS&S leadership, regulators, project management staff and 3rd party clients and suppliers
Have experience and understanding of EHS&S regulatory systems and policy
Have experience in training large groups and be able to assist in the development of training
Demonstrate proficiency working standard business software, including word processing, presentation software, and spreadsheets
Well organized, excellent attention to details and a passion for all things Environment, Health and Safety
Evidence of exceptional ability: Clear communication, teamwork, problem solving skills, and ability to adapt quickly to changes
Essential Physical Demands
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand and/or walk for 10+ hours daily
Ability to climb stairs
Ability to climb and utilize equipment on site including various ladders rated for maximum capacity of 325 pounds
Must be able to meet equipment standards for fall protection (harness, anchor, ropes, etc.) with maximum capacity of 310 pounds
Ability to work; day shift, night shifts and weekends as scheduled
