We anticipate the need for one or more Dispatch and Damage Prevention Tech(s) to be located at our Marshall Operations Center in Minneapolis, MN. This position has a Graduate Wage Scale starting at $19.13 hourly. The base thereafter pay rate is $31.90 hourly. This position was posted for 10 working days from April 21, 2026, to May 4, 2026.

Summary
Responsible for analyzing, clearing and dispatching locate requests. Also responsible for receiving, distributing, recording and reporting field events related to excavations involving underground Xcel Energy facilities and for responding to customer inquiries regarding damage prevention related issues.

Essential Responsibilities

Analyze One-Call locate requests to determine if Xcel Energy underground facilities are in conflict with excavation area by utilizing GIS data and other Xcel Energy facility maps.

Receive, distribute, record and report field events related to excavation which include Operator Qualification, abnormal operating conditions and site ready information.

Respond to customer inquiries regarding the re-marking of area, customer‑owned facilities, early start date, lowering of cables, switch‑outs, damaged facilities, etc.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

A minimum of three years of industry‑related experience.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to successfully work with customers on a wide range of concerns.

Must have basic computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

This position is subject to D.O.T. random drug and alcohol testing program.

Preferred

Experience in reading Gas and Electric maps or prints.

Understanding of Gas and Electric distribution practices.

Experience in damage prevention practices.

Experience locating Gas and Electric cable.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is $19.13 to $31.90 per hour.
