
Staff Accountant

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join the Finance team within a luxury-branded hotel environment. The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the hotel’s financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting strategic decision‑making. Partnering closely with Finance leadership and operational departments, this individual will contribute to a disciplined, control‑focused environment while helping drive efficiency, transparency, and continuous improvement across accounting processes. Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Execute timely and accurate month‑end close processes
Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting packages
Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation
Cash & Controls
Perform monthly bank reconciliations and monitor cash activity
Conduct cash counts and ensure proper handling of funds
Maintain and support strong internal controls to safeguard assets
Assist in monitoring capital expenditure and FF&E reserves
Operational Partnership
Collaborate with department leaders on financial questions, reporting, and expense management
Support purchasing processes and expense tracking
Provide timely and accurate responses to internal and ownership inquiries
Partner cross‑functionally to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy
Reporting & Analysis
Ensure accurate recording of daily revenue and financial activity
Assist in the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly business reports
Analyze labor and operational costs, identifying trends and explaining variances
Support payroll, accounts payable, and cashiering functions as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
1–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within hospitality, hotels, or related industries
Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and month‑end close processes
Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems
Experience with platforms such as Sun Systems, Blackline, or Opera is a plus
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across departments
High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment
Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills
Proactive, solutions‑oriented approach
