Position Summary

The Loan Processor provides support in implementing the loan origination policies and procedures associated with the University of California's Housing Assistance Program. Responsibilities include compiling documentation associated with loan application materials, interacting with title and escrow officers and other professionals associated with the loan process, providing excellent customer service to loan applicants, assisting in the preparation of loan documents and following up for documentation associated with the loan funding process. This position is an "Assigned Employee" as defined in The University of California Home Loan Program Corporation Services Agreement dated February 1, 2014.
Responsibilities

60% Loan Processing
Completes loan processing functions, including setting up initial loan file, entering key data fields in the Loan Origination System, and analyzing documents for completeness.
Reviews and evaluates loan application materials to ensure that the applicants and the subject property are in compliance with all Program eligibility and financial qualifying guidelines.
Analyzes data from the loan origination system to ensure that outputs are consistent with inputs.
Maintains regular contact with loan applicants, realtors, appraisers, escrow and title companies, and campus loan program contacts.
Provides excellent customer service to all contacts associated with the loan process.
Performs extensive follow-up for documentation with escrow officers, real estate agents, title officers, insurance agents and appraisers.
Manages workflow of on-going loan processing tasks while managing limited competing priorities.
Orders and reviews reports including consumer credit reports, flood hazard certification reports, tax service reports and property appraisals. Imports credit information into the loan origination system. Reviews credit reports for completeness, credit scores, public records and compliance with federal screening requirements.
Orders and obtains final evidence of insurance and other conditions as necessary.
Prepares and reviews final loan documents and checks for accuracy before submitting to Approver for review and sign-off.
25% Disclosure Compliance
Requests and compiles fees needed for the preparation of federally-required Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure statements.
Works closely with Escrow and Title companies to ensure all fees are included and are accurate.
Prepares, reviews and sends loan disclosures while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
10% Loan Funding
Provides backup analytical support in the review of loan funding packages. Prepares executed loan documents for funding approval. Follows-up with escrow companies for all loan funding conditions.
Provides limited analytical support in preparing and reviewing loan funding packages.
Assists with post-closing follow-up for final review.
5% Strategic Planning
Working with the Origination team members, contributes suggestions for changes to the loan origination processes and provides assistance to team members as needed.
Assists in the development and updating of procedures and job aids.
Experience

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a mortgage lending environment, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Required Qualifications

Mortgage loan processing and general knowledge of mortgage lending industry practices and procedures.
Ability to perform basic math functions financial analysis.
Good oral and written communication skills for communicating with escrow officers, real estate agents, title officers and insurance agents.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Developing familiarity with standard mortgage industry loan origination systems.
Developing knowledge of standard single-family lending, title insurance, hazard insurance, flood insurance and escrow practices in California.
Interpersonal skills and initiative as demonstrated by the ability to respond positively and proactively to requests.
Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and hard deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Encompass Loan Origination System.
Education

Bachelor's degree in related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Special Conditions

The person hired will be required to reside within California and report to work on-site at UC's Office of the President (UCOP) located in Oakland, CA on a regular basis. Current policy requires that a new employee work on-site at least two days per week on Tuesday and Wednesday ("anchor days").

Pay Scale:

$35.91 - $41.18/hour (approximately $75,000 - $86,000 annual), commensurate with experience.
The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
