LOGISTICS/FC FLEET REFRIGERATION MECHANIC II

Responsibilities

Diagnose/repair direct drive and self-contained electric refrigeration units on vans; determine and complete repairs needed; repairs include flushing the system, replace a compressor after a catastrophic failure, make and replace refrigerant hoses; evacuate and recharge a system using manifold gauges and a micron gauge.

Set or adjust the Compressor Pressure Regulator (CPR) or Suction Pressure Regulator (SPR)

Recover refrigerant from a system and recharge the system once repairs are complete using manifold gauges and a micron gauge

Solder using soft and silver solder

Read and follow wire schematics for electrical repairs

Repair/rebuild all or part of equipment to include hydraulic brakes, ABS, suspensions, roll up or swing doors, electrical, lights, interior and exterior body repairs; This is applicable when there is no refrigeration work

Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation

Create and complete work orders using the maintenance software with accurate repair descriptions of the work performed and ensure the inventory parts used are charged to the work order

Follow company policy and procedures in making all repairs

Access any area of the equipment to perform necessary maintenance, including, inspecting, and performing work in, on or under parts of vans

Maintain shop cleanliness, safety, and compliance

Apply knowledge and work in accordance with DOT, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Interstate Authority, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other rules and regulations

Maintain knowledge of equipment and technologies that enhance Kroger’s productivity

Participate in company and/or vendor training programs

Maintain flexibility to work outside of scheduled shift if needed

Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environments

Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner

Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information

Qualifications
Minimum

EPA 609 and 608 Type II Certification

3 years’ experience with transport refrigeration systems

Ability to safely walk and stand for extended periods of time on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery (including working outdoors in inclement weather)

Ability to lift objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights (up to 50 lbs. often and greater than 75 lbs. occasionally)

Ability to safely walk, reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat & kneel as necessary to perform the job duties.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Must supply own mechanic tools - 1/4” up to 1/2” drive socket set, and up to 1”, or metric, equivalent wrenches needed for van repairs.

High School Diploma or GED

5+ years of refrigeration, van repair and maintenance experience

Technical training in mechanics, welding, body and door repair
