Job Description
Nebraska Game & Parks is seeking a physically driven and quality motivated individual to join our maintenance staff at our Lincoln Office. This position is an assistant to the maintenance supervisor and will be required to be “on call” when scheduled. The position is “non-exempt” which means it is overtime eligible.
Also required is a Class “O” driver’s license with a good driving record.
The work is an entry-level to semi-skilled building maintenance laborer or tradesperson in the performance of apprentice-level facility maintenance activities, routine grounds maintenance, and custodial/janitorial or housekeeping work. Work is typically labor intensive and requires close-to-general supervision in building maintenance and repair. Positions at this level receive verbal instruction to properly accomplish or organize tasks. Decision‑making authorities are limited to selection of tools or equipment and determining the organization and sequence of separate work tasks.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: No specific education, training, or experience is required for entry to this class.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with experience in facility maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge Of
The standard use, maintenance and safety practices associated with hand tools, power tools and light equipment
Building and mechanical trade methods, practices and procedures
Occupational hazards and safety precautions followed in building maintenance operations
Grounds maintenance and horticultural practices
Safe use of fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides
Commercial cleaning practices, equipment, supplies and techniques
Skilled In The Use Of
Hand tools, power tools and building maintenance equipment
Basic office and computer equipment including the use of email and Excel forms
Ability To
Communicate effectively
Understand, and follow instructions
Read, and comprehend blueprints, reference books and equipment manuals
Utilize and maintain hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely
Climb ladders and scaffolding to perform work above ground level
