Physician - Family Medicine

Overview

Join Ascension Wamego Health Center as a Board Certified Family Medicine physician. This full‑time, Monday‑Friday schedule includes rotating on‑call to support the emergency department backup team.

Location

Wamego, KS – a small town community with convenient access to Manhattan, Kansas and Kansas State University. The facility is located in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) and Medically Underserved Area/Population (MUA/P) designation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients with comprehensive family medicine skills in an outpatient setting for all ages.
• Coordinate discharge planning with case management and ensure smooth transitions of care.
• Accept referrals from other physicians and serve as attending or consulting physician for inpatient admissions of primary medical diagnoses.
• Participate in academic programs, medical education and research as requested.
• Maintain documentation that meets insurance company requirements and appeal all denials in a timely manner.
• Consult on specialty, including participation in inpatient and outpatient specialty care and on‑call schedules.

Qualifications

• MD or DO board‑certified in Family Medicine (BC/BE).
• Licensed physician in Kansas – credentialed by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts prior to hire or job transfer date.
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required with active medical license.
