We provide our employees a top-rated benefits package, supportive work culture, and more!**Communications & Events Intern****Broadlawns Medical Center | Des Moines, Iowa****About the Internship**Broadlawns Medical Center is offering a full-time, 12-week summer internship designed to provide hands-on experience in healthcare communications and event coordination.This internship runs from May through August (40 hours per week) and offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that support our mission: Together a Healthy Community.Interns will gain real-world experience across internal communications, digital content, and community engagement while working alongside a collaborative team dedicated to serving Polk County.**What You’ll Do**As a Communications & Events Intern, you will support a variety of initiatives that shape how Broadlawns connects with employees, patients, and the community.Responsibilities may include:* Assist with internal communications, including BMCnet, employee newsletters, and announcements* Support social media and digital content planning* Help coordinate external events, community partnerships, and sponsorship initiatives that support Broadlawns role as Polk County’s community safety-net hospital* Support coordination with apparel and promotional vendors, including selecting branded items for events and internal use* Contribute to communications projects from concept through implementation* Draft and edit content for a variety of audiences and platforms* Support event logistics, including planning, coordination, and on-site execution* Collaborate with teams across the organization* Assist with organizing projects, timelines, and communications materials**What You’ll Gain*** Hands-on experience in a fast-paced healthcare environment* Exposure to internal communications, marketing, and community engagement strategies* Opportunity to contribute to real projects that support employees, patients, and the community* Mentorship and collaboration with experienced professionals* Insight into the operations of a community safety-net hospital* Professional development opportunities in a mission-driven organization**What We’re Looking For*** Currently enrolled in a college or university program; communications, marketing, public relations, event management, or a related field preferred* Strong written and verbal communication skills* Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects* Interest in healthcare, communications, events, or mission-driven work* Ability to work independently and collaboratively* Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with social media platforms preferred* Knowledge of AP Style is a plus, but not required**Why Broadlawns**Broadlawns Medical Center is Polk County’s community hospital, providing high-quality care for all, especially those who face barriers to accessing healthcare.Our team is guided by our purpose: Together a Healthy Community.
