Our Operating Room Surgical Technicians play a crucial role in assisting surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room functions smoothly and safely. Responsibilities

Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterilized, organized, and available.

Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies, anticipating the surgeon’s needs and maintaining a sterile field.

Set up and operate specialized surgical equipment, including lights, suction devices, and diagnostic equipment, following manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.

Monitor and maintain aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures, including draping, gowning, and gloving, to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.

Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and applying sterile drapes as directed by the surgical team.

Anticipate and respond to emergency situations in the operating room, providing additional supplies or assistance as needed.

Collaborate with surgical team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of procedures, communicating effectively and respectfully.

Assist with post-operative tasks such as wound closure, dressing application, and transferring patients to recovery areas, following established protocols and guidelines.

Participate in quality assurance activities, including maintaining accurate records of surgical procedures, equipment usage, and patient care documentation.

Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols, promoting a culture of safety and accountability in the operating room.

Qualifications

Must possess one year experience in a hospital setting. Prefer minimum of one year current operating room experience.

Knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile technique.

Ability to anticipate surgeon’s needs and adapt to changing priorities during procedures.

Strong communication and teamwork skills, able to collaborate effectively with diverse team members under pressure.

Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical standards in patient care.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Credentials

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred

BLS – Basic Life Saving Certification

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in sterile processing preferred.

Graduated from a Surgical Technology program.

Entry: USD $24.62/Hr.

Max: USD $38.16/Hr.
