We are seeking a skilled Pathology-Cytopathology Physician for a locum tenens opportunity in Syracuse, New York. This role offers a consistent weekday schedule in a hospital setting, providing a strong work-life balance while working alongside an experienced and supportive pathology team. The position involves a mix of general anatomic pathology, cytology, and frozen section analysis in a well-equipped environment.

• Case Volume: 15 surgical cases/day (3-5 large cases)
• Monthly Volume Averages:
  • Cases: 403
  • Blocks: 1,302
  • Slides (H&E): 2,509
  • Special Stains: 107
  • IHC: 573
  • Recuts: 351
• Compensation: $2,300/day

Job Responsibilities

• Perform general anatomic pathology and cytopathology evaluations
• Conduct frozen section analysis and cytology interpretation
• Gross specimens and perform cryostat sectioning as needed
• Collaborate with pathology assistants, histotechnologists, and cytotechnologists
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within EMR systems

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology (AP)
• Cytopathology experience required
• Active New York State medical license
• Cytology Proficiency Exam required for GYN cytology
• Self-Query NPDB report required

Working Hours

• Monday through Friday
• 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• No nights or weekends
